README

WHAT'S HERE?

This is the binary download of mcOCR. It should be ready to go on any modern system.

OVERVIEW OF FILES:
mcocr/mcocr.exe: The actual program
DefaultValidMap.txt: The default valid map (required)
mcocr.ini: The .ini file (by default, for profile CTO)
Backup-Alt: a directory containing sample image files and configuration data for one instance of mcOCR.
Backup-CTO: a directory containing sample image files and configuration data for another instance of mcOCR.
Documentation: A folder containing documents pertaining to this project.
Outputs: The folder where output files are placed by default.
Sky: Sample sky-conditions files
Webcam: Where images of the LCD panel are to be placed.

TO RUN:

1. Copy the .ini file from one of the backup folders, to the main mcOCR folder. Rename it to mcocr.ini.
2. Run: ./mcocr. The program should come up and display an empty image area.
3. In a file manager, grab a file from the backup folder and drop it into Webcam.
4. The image should be scanned, and output files generated.

You will need some way to feed images of the LCD display to the program on a regular basis. There are a number of utilities in Windows and Linux that will do this.

You will need some way to transport the generated output files to your weather system.

Enjoy!
